The Five Originals

Pat Oliver

Can we ask how old you are?
You should know better! [That'll be no then! - Ed]

What starring role did you perform in the 1983 Show?
I think it has to be the 'Antony and Clepatra' sketch.

What do the words 'Gang Show' mean to you?

People of all ages in the Scout and Guide Associations in Inverness coming together with a common goal of entertainment for the whole community.

Why do you keep coming back for more every two years?

I really do enjoy every minute of it!

Share with us some words about The Five Originals.

Gang Show has been a great asset to Scouting and Guiding in the Inverness area over the years. It has brought together people of all ages and from all parts of the area, from Aviemore to Kiltarlity and from Nairn to Inverness.

What was your starring role be in the 2003 Show?

Well, it had to have been 'The Five Originals'!

What is your one-word summary of Gang Show?

Magic!

So, what about the 6 months of rehearsals?

It can be very entertaining, and to watch the young people struggling to learn the dance routines, then see them on stage enjoying every minute of it, is very pleasing. In every person is an actor trying to get out!

What have you personally enjoyed about the Show?

Apart from the 1983 and 2003 Shows, I've been assistant convenor or convenor and have enjoyed watching the professionalism of the Show grow and the young people coming back from Cubs, then Scouts, then young adults and eventually leaders! It has all been so worthwhile.

The views and opinions expressed by The Five Originals are not necessarily those of the Scout Association, and are definitely not those of Inverness Area Gang Show!
