Gang Show Programme Extract: 1987

The following text has been taken word-for-word from the 1987 Show programme. Although the text was relevant at the time, it may not be relevant (or current) now.

Family Matters

The Gang, the team, the family - names or titles meaning a group of people of all ages gathered together for one united purpose. The purpose in this instance is Scouting and Guiding.

Part of the Scout Law states that "A Scout is a brother to all Scouts"(1). What is noticeable and encouraging is that this part of the Scout Law is portraying itself in the cast of the Gang Show. Everyone is helping one another, there is a bond of friendship which has been evident in all three Gang Shows. At the same time, although hard work, it is all very enjoyable.

It is interesting to note that out of the present cast of 125 members, 23 members have taken part in all three Gang Shows, ie, '83, '85 and '87; and 61 members took part in the '85 Gang Show - and they all must be enjoying it!

Apart from the fact that there are approximately 240 parents involved, the following are further family statistics with regard to the 1987 Gang Show:

(1) Since the Scout Association became fully co-educational, the Law stated here has become "A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts".
