You are watching: 2010 chevy malibu transmission fluid check
i have a 2010 2.4 malibu i want to check the tranny liquid level from what i recognize the only means to examine it is under the tranny over there a bolt i need to open and also see if liquid in it choose checking a manual tranny ofcouse the automobile has to be level for this reason i will certainly be having all 4 next on jack stand.has anyone done this or recognize for certain where the bolt top top it the i have to open place would be good i understand where the black fill cap is top top the tranny i open it but it bone dry.
Edit: Forgot to ask, do you have the 4 rate or the 6 speed auto? The procedure is basically the same, however I was offering you information for the 4 speed. You would certainly be correct around the bolt ~ above the next of the case to inspect the level. The car has to it is in level, running, and warm. A little bit of a pains in the behind to execute in the driveway. Don"t open it as soon as the automobile isn"t running, or you will shed a great bit the fluid. It"s to be a while since I"ve to be under there, yet I think the bolt is on the left next of the tranny. This snapshot should offer you a good idea whereby it is. Also, that is 10mm.
Just a note: also though the image above is for a 4-speed transmission, the 6-speed check/fill bolt is in a similar location. Because that the 6-speed transmission:The 4-cylinder version offers bolts ~ above the next to check/fill the fluid and also to drainpipe it.The 6-cylinder version has actually a ideal cap v dipstick (cable with significant metal weight) and a tiny bolt ~ above the underside to drain the fluid. Ns did mine and it to be easy.

Wow :surprise: many thanks for the video. Ns been discovering this procedure and always think that it is complex and not practical. However I did not know that for certain until seeing this video clip today. The an obstacle is how can you know if the auto is in reality "balanced"? ns wish over there is "Level" on the auto so you have the right to tell . But going v all the hurdle: idling to the exactly temperature, jack the car up for this reason it can be leveled. These 2 things space not simple to verify. Then ultimately removing the plug ..... OMG ns don"t recognize why GM make it that way, instead of the traditional stick.I to be glad the I have never tried that. I will certainly stick v my pragmatic an approach that was disputed in various other thread: 6 quart without filter change. 7 quarts with filter change.
Simple version:Drive the vehicle a few miles, come back home and lift it up on jack stands. So lengthy as it"s quite level, how deserve to it be that the infectious diseases worldwide is so perceptible to being turn off level a bit? If the liquid is low, it"s low, include some. If it"s as well full, it"ll come out.If the infectious diseases worldwide is lacking a quart or more, not having the car perfectly level is less of an problem than adding some liquid so it have the right to do that job.GM is make it out to it is in some type of strange science to get it right. The ain"t that hard!Back when I had actually my engine replaced the infection was changing perfectly no matter how much gas I offered it. (Mine is the V6 version through a cap.) After i serviced the trans liquid it began slipping into 2nd from 1st when i was pouring on the coals, yet when speeding up less it shifted fine. Every the other gears shifted just fine. I measured just how much came out by capturing all of it in a pan, then pouring it into a container with a measure up line. Ns refilled the trans v the very same amount, checked the level, and was to solve I had refilled the properly. After a pair weeks of the slipping in the 1-2 shifts I lastly removed the cap after getting home one day and there was nothing on the dipstick. I included 2 more quarts before it also touched the dipstick, and more than 1 an ext before it acquired to the hash marks. Drained out 3, put earlier 6½! I number that they never filled it properly at the dealership, even though they have actually all the technical data and also training essential to execute the job right. If a certified tech can"t execute it yet this ol" hillbilly can, don"t let it stop you from mirroring some gumption and doing that yourself. You have no guarantee that the certified tech will actually carry out what they"re payment to do, however they"ll most definitely take her money and also thank girlfriend for sustaining their habit! Now, go out there and "get "er done!"
